BMWACA 2007 Annual
September’s BMWACA meeting was held Tuesday September 11th at Pacific Motorsports. It was another fine “party” at our facility, this time attended by 100 people.

While last year featured a presentation on Redline synthetic lubricants (www.redlineoil.com), this year’s showcased modified and tuned BMWs. From modest software/chip replacement to M engine motor swaps and all the way to superchargers and turbo chargers, the full gamut of modifications was on display.

Chris Bergemann and his crew (JP, Aaron and David) from Horsepower Freaks (www.horsepowerfreaks.com) brought their latest special turbocharged creation. The HPF 750, is an e46 M3 with approximately 750 rear wheel horsepower on race fuel. Detuned to 600-650 horsepower for street driving on pump gas, it was available for demonstration rides. This special opportunity was seized upon by e46 M3 owners in search of more power, as Pacific Motorsports and HPF are now installing these turbo kits in client cars.

In addition to the turbocharged and supercharged road cars, BMW-powered race and track cars were also be present. The #93 Pacific Motorsports car was fired up which gave the assembled an idea of what a barely-muffled methanol car sounds like at 9,600 RPM.

In keeping with the Octoberfest theme, food was a selection of sausages and sides from Otto’s Delicatessen (4138 SE Woodstock Blvd. [503] 771-6714). All 120 of their sausages were consumed in short order. Through a minor miracle we obtained a keg of Stone Ruination IPA, one of the finest brews on the planet. Much to our surprise all 15.5 gallons disappeared in less than three hours, which indicates what an outstanding beer it is (www.stonebrew.com), even though many drinkers had no idea what it was (other than fantastic free beer).

We thank all of our friends at the BMWACA for coming and making this event a tremendous success. We are also grateful to Horsepower Freaks, Otto’s and Stone Brewing for helping to insure another successful event at Pacific Motorsports. See you all soon.
